About Us ▼

Welcome to the Garfield Community Website, your ultimate resource for all things Garfield and its surrounding areas. Established by John Henderson, a passionate resident who relocated to Garfield over a decade ago, our website aims to bring together locals and visitors in a convenient and centralised online platform.
John Henderson, formerly an Administrations Director for a large engineering company in Far North Queensland, has a rich background in community engagement. During his tenure, he actively participated in various roles within the local Chamber of Commerce, ranging from Treasurer and Secretary to Vice President. Prior to his move to Garfield, John spent thirteen years in Sydney, where he served as the Operations Manager for Contiki Travel in Australia.
Now retired and eager to embark on a new venture, John identified the need for a comprehensive and easily accessible source of information about Garfield. He envisioned a platform that would connect residents, businesses, and visitors, providing a one-stop destination for discovering the vibrant offerings of our community.
John's love for Garfield, its friendly shops, and its welcoming locals shines through his commitment to the community. Having previously lived in a small community, he understands the unique needs and challenges faced by local businesses. With this understanding, John has dedicated himself to creating a resource that not only caters to current residents but also supports newcomers in navigating the town's offerings.

Garfield has experienced gradual growth over time, attracting new residents and visitors. However, finding information about the town can be a daunting task, requiring searches through multiple publications, online searches, and relying on local advice. Our website seeks to simplify this process by providing a centralised hub where individuals can access comprehensive information about Garfield's services, attractions, and events.
We believe that collaboration with the Garfield community is essential in making this website a truly remarkable resource. We invite all residents, businesses, and community members to contribute their knowledge, insights, and recommendations to further enhance our platform. Together, we can create an inclusive and thriving online community that benefits everyone.
The Garfield Community Website Association was officially incorporated under the Associations Incorporation Reform Act 2012 on July 5, 2022. This milestone further solidifies our commitment to serving the Garfield community and ensures the longevity and sustainability of our platform.
We extend our gratitude to all those who have shown interest in our website and have supported us thus far. We look forward to your continued involvement as we strive to make the Garfield Community Website an invaluable resource for all.
